Stop War – A Handmade Plea for Peace
A soldier's shadow stands behind a little girl holding her teddy bear. She has done nothing to deserve this war. Stop War is Atajan Hemrayev's original string art work about the wars of recent years and the innocence of the children caught in them. It asks for one thing: that the fighting stops.
The portrait is built only from black thread on white. Up close you see thousands of crossing lines. From a few steps back, the child's face and the soldier's silhouette appear.
